This fun event is held at outdoors at Columbia’s Metter Park.  Attendees can listen to the classic tunes of The Beatles performed by this wonderful cover band while relaxing in the grass, shopping at any of the local small business vendor booths, or enjoying food and drink provided by local restaurants and organizations.  This event is not only a great time; it also supports Columbia’s Historic Main Street Association, a group of local business owners who are committed to hosting community events, boosting community involvement, and working toward giving Columbia a stronger small business district!  Did we mention this event is FREE?!

Musicans’ Music Festival: A Benefit Concert for Elsa

This event is sure to be nothing but pure entertainment, and all for a great cause!  The music starts at 11, and the concert features a variety of local musicians all day.  In addition to the music, there will be a faire act, 50/50 raffle, food vendors, face painting, ice cream truck, and a barrel of booze raffle.  This event is BYOBeverages & lawn chairs.  Show your support for this local family and their lovely young daughter as she fights cancer.

Wondering What to Do This Weekend?

Looking for Something to Do This Weekend?

You've come to the right place!

The weekend following Thanksgiving is always so busy.  People are getting out their holiday decorations, beginning to shop for gifts, and looking for things to do to get them into the spirit of the season.  Here are some local events going on in our area that should help you find something to occupy your time this weekend!

Anheuser Busch Brewery Lights

This event, which is a huge hit in the St. Louis area, is back again this year, and it returns with a few added features!  Visitors can still enjoy the free self-guided tours down Pestalozzi Street and around the historic Anheuser-Busch Brewery.  Guests who are 21 and older receive a wristband for five 5oz samples of a variety of beers, and any hungry visitors can stop at one of the food stations in the Biergarten, where you can find a variety of dishes.  Visitors can also get a jump start on their holiday shopping, because there are a number of vendors selling crafted items at the Stella Artois Market.  New this year is the Bud Light Ice Rink, where skaters can glide along under the red glow of the Budweiser sign on the Bevo Packaging Plant.  Other attractions include the S’mores Station, sand and ice sculptures, and the chance to reserve a private fire pit for up to 8 guests, featuring wait service and 2 printed photos included in the price!

Missouri Botanical Garden’s Garden Glow

This popular event is a gem of a St. Louis tradition.  Though it only began in recent years, its popularity has caught on quick.  Visitors can walk through the Missouri Botanical Garden and view the gorgeous light display, surrounded by lovely plants and mature trees.  Along the path, visitors can find food and drink stations with a variety of drinks, including the ever popular holiday drinks hot chocolate and egg nog (while also featuring alcoholic beverages, as well).  Along the way, visitors can find themselves around an area with fire pits to gather ‘round while listening to the live carolers featured in this event.  If you have never been, it’d be a great year to give the Garden Glow a visit—you’ll likely make it part of your holiday tradition from here on out.

Missouri Botanical Gardens’ Garden Glow

The Garden Glow opens to Botanical Garden members on Nov. 18 & to the general public Nov. 19, and it runs through January 1.  It is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Santa’s Express Train Ride

The St. Louis Union Station always puts on a great holiday event, and this year it hosts with a ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas theme.  Although the train ride is the main focus of this event, there are plenty of other attractions to make your visit even better, including spectacular holiday décor, North Pole Village and activities, ice skating, and the new Fire & Light show!  The centerpiece of the event, the Santa Express Train Ride, takes ticket holders on a train ride out of the St. Louis Union Station to view the wonderful holiday features along the way.

Belleville’s Chriskindlmarkt

Chriskindlmarkts have begun to sprout up all over the country.  They are open-air Christmas festivals based on Bavarian traditions, but Belleville’s celebrations focus more on this area’s German heritage.  The event features European vendors and traditional German food and refreshments, as well as a Children’s lantern parade around this historic square on Friday night, cultural activities, arts, crafts, music, and dancing.  Even the way the vendors have their stations set up is unique, operating in individual wooden chalets and offering German lace, hand-blown glass ornaments, amber jewelry, nesting dolls, and more.  Head down to Belleville this holiday season and see what they have to offer.  You may even get a few gifts while you’re there!

Small Business Saturday

The Saturday following Black Friday has recently been dubbed, "Small Business Saturday," an event all across the country that urges consumers to consider spending their holiday money locally.  Small businesses, boutiques, craftsmen, and artisans all have sales on Saturday to help drive business.  Shopping around your community is more than just an enjoyable way to spend your Saturday, however.  Supporting small businesses this holiday season is such a wonderful choice to make on so many levels.  Money spent in the local economy has a much better chance staying local.  The more successful the businesses in your area, the more valuable homes are in that area.  Spending money at a small business is likened to investing in making someone's dream come to fruition.  There are so many wonderful things that come from spending your money at a small business or local craftsman or artisan.  The best perk about going out and spending money at small businesses this holiday season, though?  The gifts you give will be totally unique, and you're bound to find some things that your family and friends will LOVE!

Ring in Fall with These Local Events!

by The Linda Frierdich Real Estate Group

Ring in Fall!

Check out these local events focused around this lovely season!

Fall is in the air, and that means that many of our favorite local autumn events are coming up.  Here are a few local events happening this weekend that you can attend to ring in the Fall season!  The weather forecast for this weekend is gorgeous- Get out there and enjoy some of what the local communities have to offer!

Waterloo PumpkinFest

This event draws visitors from all over the area, and for good reason.  Last year, the event was packed with people, but it didn't take away from the atmosphere one bit- it only speaks to how wonderful this event is!  Browse through TONS of vendor tents (and maybe even grab a few Christmas gifts... It's only about 11 weeks away, after all Wink), eat at any number of food vendors, enjoy games and entertainment for the kids, listen to some live local music, and maybe even stop by a restaurant or shop there at the Courthouse Square.  This lovely event takes place on Saturday, October 8th, on the grounds of the Monroe County Court House and its surrounding area.  Team member Abby Moallankamp attended last year, and she very highly recommends this one for adults and kids, alike.

Check out the event's page on the City of Waterloo website for more information by clicking here.

Annual Belleville Chili Cook-Off

Few things say Fall like the season's first bowl of chili... Come down to Belleville's Chili Cook-Off to get your hands on much more than just one bowl of this cool-weather staple food!  The event, taking place Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th, hosts more than 60 vendors, from restaurants to organizations to individuals, who all come together to cook off for a chance at one of the Chili Cook-Off Awards.  This event is one of Belleville's biggest annual attractions, and it also is a great fundraising event.  Over half of the vendors who participate in this event are either a non-profit organization or a business raising money for a charity. 100% of the money you spend at that stand goes to the vendor.  In addition, attendees get to vote in the contest for their favorite chili for a price of $1 per vote.  All of those proceeds go to the Community Interfaith Food Pantry in Belleville.  Head on down to this event this weekend and enjoy the live music, entertainment, and, of course, the chili!

To learn more about this event, visit the event's website by clicking here.

Maestown Oktoberfest

Head on down to charming & historic Maestown to enjoy the Oktoberfest festivities!  This antique, craft, and art fair features over 50 artisans, dealers, craftsmen, and food vendors at the area around the stone mill and bridge.  Enjoy the colors of Fall while doing some shopping, and even enjoy foods such as turtle soup, potato pancakes, and popcorn cooked in old-fashioned kettles!  The local inns, shops, and resaurants will all remain open during the festivities, so you can even stroll around this lovely town and do a little window shopping or dining while you are there.  This event is taking place on Sunday the 9th from 9 am to 4 pm.

To learn more about this event, visit Maestown's website here.

Songs4Soldiers Coming Up Next Month!

by The Linda Frierdich Real Estate Group

4th Annual Songs4Soldiers Gears Up for Another Successful Year

Coming up on September 10, Columbia will again be hosting the Songs4Soldiers Benefit Concert after much anticipation.  For those of you unfamiliar with the event, Songs4Soldiers is a benefit concert founded by Dustin Row (brother of our very own Sam Row!), an Iraq War veteran himself, with a mission of helping local combat veterans.  Since it was founded, the organization has dispersed $128,000 and helped 76 local veterans in need!  Rather than handing out cash, the organization works hard to ensure that the money donated goes directly to the needs of veterans, and it operates under complete transparency, meaning that those who donate can watch to see exactly how their donations helped those who have served our country.

The Linda Frierdich Real Estate Group is an avid supporter of Songs4Soldiers.  For the 2016 year, we donated the use of our billboard, so that the organization could make more people aware of the event through advertising.  We are also immensely proud of the money we raised for S4S in February, through our "Lock Box Linda" event.  Our Team tended bar at three local establishments, donating all tips to S4S.  With much gratitude to Tiny's, Who Dat's, and Merz on Main for allowing us to get behind their bars, as well as to the community for coming out to support this wonderful organization, we are proud to say that we were able to write a check to Songs4Soldiers for $4,000!

Songs4Soldiers is an event for everyone!  The event is family-friendly, featuring a "Kids Zone," complete with bounce houses, balloons, and interactive projects.  Since Songs4Soldiers features food and drink vendors from local bars and restaurants, your family can attend and feel good about supporting local businesses while you help local veterans.  It truly is a wonderful organization and an exciting event!  To learn more, you can visit songs4soldiersstl.org, or you can attend and see it for yourself!

My Fourth of July!

by Linda Frierdich

I hope all of my clients and friends enjoyed their holiday weekend!  My family and I spent a relaxing weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks with my grandsons, Chanse & Caden.  We went on loads of golf cart rides to enjoy the beautiful weather and spent lots of time out on the water!  Both boys had a blast, but got worn out pretty quickly!

Columbia Lakes- Lake Front Community!

by The Linda Frierdich Real Estate Group

Thinking of Building? Enjoy New Construction in it’s most convenient location and affordable pricing!  Located conveniently close to I-255, South County, downtown St Louis, and the city of Columbia Illinois, the well-established community of Columbia Lakes is buzzing with activity! The recent changes in Monroe Homes Standard Features and  the charming curb appeal of his Brick and Stone exterior elevations has been only a couple  of the advantages today's Buyer is able to take advantage of. The 34 lots that still remain available include several walk out and day light basements. There are only a select few lots left that are compatible for the desired 3 car garage. Monroe Homes is offering 3 sides brick at very affordable prices as well.  The fourth and final phase of the development also includes a large common ground area that will eventually be handed over to the association for a park like setting. This also gives to the privacy factor that most all of the lots possess. The majority of the lots back up to woods, Sportsman Club Lake, or the Common area. This insures larger and more private back yard settings for homebuyers that want the convenient access to  Route 3 and a private community feel in one.

Our Team is proud of Our Listings with Monroe Homes. Monroe Homes President and Builder Ken Jones  has been business for over 37 years and prides himself on establishing a one-on-one transaction with his valued clients. His professional approach and workmanship is a valued trait in its self and is truly reflected in each home he builds. Base price for the very functional and open Ranch floor plan is $189,900.00.
